Officials determined that this is not a Pepco issue, however the power outage is a building issue. About 1,000 people lost power Tuesday after an electrical fire at the 15-story high rise located at 1111 University Blvd. The building lost power on Sunday also due to an electrical fire, officials said.

Montgomery County Fire asked Pepco to turn off the power on Tuesday. Pepco restored the flow of power to the building around 2 a.m. This does not mean that everybody inside of the building has power again. Some residents remain without power.

Red Cross opened a shelter at Blair High School for residents who need a place to stay.
