Wine & Food Festival Goes Local

 

The Maryland Wineries Association is hosting a farmer’s market style event, Eat•Drink•Go LOCAL in North Beach, Md., on Saturday July 16th.

The event will feature agricultural products, over 400 local wines, seasonal ingredients, local farmers, and regional chefs.

“This beach side town is only 20 miles from Annapolis, and the perfect back drop for this event,” said Jade Ostner, event coordinator at the Maryland Wineries Association. 

The event is FREE, and attendees can shop the market and enjoy live music all day long.

Enjoy an All-You-Can-Taste experience at the Beer, Bourbon, & BBQ Festival coming to National Harbor on June 15th and 16th.

There are 40 Bourbons and 60 Beers on Tap to try while listening to live music and eating BBQ galore from pulled pork, ribs, brisket, chickens, sausages and any fixin’ you could imagine.

The festival promises to "keep the portions heavy, and the prices low."

Music Festival Comes to National Harbor

FRESHtival, hosted by 94.7 Fresh FM, will be going on at Gaylord National Harbor on Sunday, May 27th, and includes Fireworks, Rides, Games, and a Concert by Adam Lambert, Erin Willett [NBC's the VOICE,] Scars on 45 and Junior Doctor.

Beginning at 11 a.m., fans will also gather to make a Living Flag on the grounds of the Gaylord National Hotel at National Harbor. The first 1000 to show up and participate will receive a Cotton Incorporated, T-shirt in red, white or blue. Participants will be coordinated into the proper formation and official photos will be taken approximately at noon.

The Dark Knight Tumbler Comes to Md.

Calling all Batman fanatics!

The insanely awesome version of the Batmobile featured in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and this summer’s The Dark Knight Rises is on tour and coming to the National Harbor this Sunday.

The "Tumbler," which looks like a Transformer type tank, and the "Bat Pod," which is the motorcycle seen in Dark Knight will be on display at the Gaylord National Resort for FRESHtival, an outdoor music festival featuring live music from Adam Lambert. 

Overnight accommodations at the Gaylord Resort, four VIP tickets, and after-party tickets are available for $249, or you can purchase tickets for a one-day pass for $30.

Golf For Good: Local Tournament Raises Funds & Awareness

According to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, every 14 minutes someone in the United States commits suicide.

Help raise awareness to this growing issue, and reach out to those affected by suicide at The AFSP National Capital Chapter 's Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament on May 23rd.

Last year, the organization was able to raise $18,000, which benefitted the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and their dedication to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy programs.

The 18-hole golf tournament is located at one of the area’s nicest courses at Andrews Airforce Base in Md., and features a fully catered barbeque lunch and refreshments.

The tournament also incorporates contests and prizes including restaurant gift certificates, and paid vacations to Chicago, Florida, and San Francisco, as well as trophies for winning foursomes.

Jerry Seinfeld is back and performing stand-up at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall this August.

Seinfeld has a unique style of stand-up that allows him to joke about the little things in life that everyone can relate to. Unlike other comedians, Seinfeld doesn't use a lot of profanity, which is great when you want to bring your parents!

He will be at the Kennedy Center for three shows beginning August 3.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, May 18 at 10 a.m. with prices ranging from $69 - $88.
