Woody Guthrie Centennial Tribute Concert Featuring The U-Liners And Magpie

TAKOMA PARK, Md. - Celebrate Woody Guthrie's 100th birthday with a concert by root rock artists The U-Liners and folk artists Magpie at the Takoma Park Civic Auditorium on July 14.

Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Guthrie, is an iconic American singer-songwriter and folk musician whose musical legacy includes hundreds of political, chiltraditional and children's songs, ballads and improvised works. Throughout his career, Woody could be found singing in union halls, at rallies, fundraisers, and wherever oppressed people were struggling.

As in the tradition of Woody, Joe Uehlein (founder of U-Liners) and Magpie are both politically active and on the cutting edge of the latest efforts for workers’ rights and social justice today.
