Montgomery County Map of Snow Plow Process

DOT crews worked overnight clearing Emergency Roads. At present all Emergency Roads are open and cleared full-width with exception of isolated areas of abandoned vehicles. Even though Emergency Roads are cleared, many areas exhibit isolated icy spots; therefore extreme caution must be exercised.

Crews mobilized to Secondary neighborhood streets and are clearing Secondary streets best characterized as snow covered and hard packed. This phase of the snow clearing operation can be tracked on the Snow Map. Plow crews will immediately move into neighborhood plowing operations immediately following plowing of Secondary roads.

DOT has received reports of approximately 100 downed trees, some of which are blocking streets. Street closures can be tracked on the County’s Snow Map. Tree crews are actively removing downed trees and reopening roads. DOT is prioritizing residential plow operations to address areas known to experience power outages.

At present 12 residential plow routes are known to have 1,000 residents without power; per route. A dedicated team of plows will focus on these residential areas experiencing power loss as a priority over other plow operations. This particular operation is independent of Primary and Secondary plowing. Please make every effort to move private cars off streets and onto driveways. This will facilitate residential plowing. Please use extreme caution, drive gently and remember that safety is our top priority.
