Macy’s Honors Hispanic Heritage Month

During Hispanic Heritage Month, Macy's will host special in-store events at select stores across the nation including locations in Wheaton, MD;  Denver; Santa Ana, CA; Chicago; San Francisco; Miami; San Antonio; Houston; Los Angeles, and New York City.

Macy's El Encanto Latino events will empower participants to live well, look fantastic and feel fabulous by creating an engaging program hosted by inspirational speakers including Barbara Trujillo Gomez, Lilly Mucarsel, Evelina Solis and Luz Maria Briseno. Each moderator will create a dialogue with participants around the importance of empowering oneself to succeed via positive thinking, fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These are all important tools that can empower the entire family unit, a central element of Latino culture.

In addition to featuring discussions on family, tradition, heritage, and healthy living, participants will enjoy beauty demonstrations by Lancome of fall trends, colors and makeup tips. The centerpiece of the events is Macy's national partnership with the American Heart Association's Go Red Por Tu Corazon, a bilingual movement that is raising awareness of heart disease among Hispanic women. Heart disease is the #1 cause of death among Hispanic women. In fact, research shows that Hispanic women are likely to develop heart disease 10 years earlier than Caucasian women. American Heart Association representatives will be on hand to educate customers about the importance of practicing a heart healthy lifestyle for themselves and their family. One of the main opportunities to change habits is through healthy eating. By modifying traditional recipes to be more heart healthy, risks of heart disease can be lowered. Participants will learn ways to modify recipes and have the opportunity to taste these traditional foods that have been adapted with a healthy twist.

Customers who attend the Encanto Latino events will also receive a one-day 15% off pass and a Macy's Encanto Latino apron gift with a purchase of $50 or more (while supplies last).

The Wheaton, MD event takes place October 2nd at 2pm.
